It's a matter of when, not whether we should. Should Columbus have set out prove the world was round? Obviously yes. We can't stagnate. We should explore Mars as soon as it's feasible. Who knows what new discoveries in science and tech it will lead to and where that will lead us! Everyone remembers where they were when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the Moon. Not only will this adventure inspire the world but it's progress that is necessary for mankind to find innovative solutions to today's problems and prosper.

NASA has a track record of overspending and poor management of important projects like this. Politicians will have a field day when this is proposed. The country can't afford it. It's a waste of money that could really set the economy back. Use that money to create jobs and improve our schools.
