As criminal organizations, gangs should certainly be illegal. Their members should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Gangs are purely criminal and are of no value to the communities they operate in. In virtually all cases, gangs are only concerned with acquiring money and power through violence, coercion, and intimidation. Longer prison sentences would ease the burden on law enforcement and send a message to the other members to clean up their act.
