Most of the kids 18 - 21 that are abusing alcohol are doing it as a sign of rebellion, showing up the powers that be. Prohibition in the 20's was an utter failure and this prohibition of younger adults is failing the exact same way. They go underground to do their drinking away from adult supervision which leads to even more irresponsible behavior. Lower the minimum age to 18 and focus on better education and being better role models for them.

I say try lowering it. Young kids are getting savvier these days. The sooner they can be independent and get out in the real world the smarter they'll be and they'll have better lives. Run some trials and see how many more accidents happen with 14-year-olds.
