Most people dodge the central theme of this issue: living expenses. Although the teachings of Christ promote self-reliance, such a lifestyle simply isn't feasible in our capitalist society. Because ministers are men of God, their profession causes them to work almost exclusively in associations of charity. Since most charitable organizations are non-profit these selfless ministers are receiving spiritual, as opposed to monetary, compensation for their work. The fact of the matter is that if ministers were not paid the wage they are today the vast majority would find themselves living below the poverty line!
