The deciding factor IMO is whether that liver the candidate receives will be damaged unnecessarily. These days former alcoholics can receive a liver transplant if they prove they've been clean for 6 months. That makes sense to me. If a study is done showing most of these recovering alcoholics go back to the bottle after their transplants then maybe we should rethink it. Otherwise I say give them a second chance!
